Common sources of problems in construction projects (nightmares): Workmanship
Complaints about workmanship can be touchy- the owner feels cheated by bad work and unhappy about the prospect of living in a shabbily constructed house, and the builder can feel insulted or misunderstood by the owner regarding work that s/he feels is good or not finished yet. Many instances of bad workmanship are due to insufficient specifications regarding detailing or finish standards. Common workmanship complaints:
- Cosmetic problems: The job looks terrible, the (choose one or more) Carpenters, Painters, Roofers left big (choose one or more) dents, drips, globs, all over the house.
- Structural problems: The foundation is settling and there's a big crack in the wall.
- I (or my eight year old child) could have done a better job than that!
