Our work is often noted for it's seamlessness. In renovation, we try to integrate the new and existing spaces so they appear to have been built at the same time. Although the space we add is often more interesting and detailed than the original house, we find a common vocabulary of details to unite them. In new construction, we focus on harmonizing with the site, paying attention to opportunities to capture the particular light or views that change throughout the year.

We excel at innovation - not for its own sake, but because it often is the best way to solve a particular problem or achieve a desired aesthetic quality. Our years of hands-on construction expertise allow us to design without limitations, with the confidence that we can solve any structural or detailing problem. We rarely tell a client "it can't be done". By the same token, our experience enables us to advise a client that "it shouldn't be done", when an idea is not cost effective or doesn't achieve the overall design goals.

Having specialized in designing homes, we have amassed considerable experience in solving both the design and technical issues unique to residential construction. We can often suggest a more cost-effective solution, which allows you to stretch your design and construction budget.

We believe in demystifying design and making the client an integral part of the process. Rather than discuss fenestration, we talk about windows. More significantly, our use of 3D computer modeling throughout the entire design process enables you to visualize how your house will actually look, and to try out various what-if scenarios in real time.
