What LIGHT HOUSE does

Project management

Based on thirty-one years experience, we believe that the process of design and construction determines the finished product. A great design will not become a great building without the right process. The process ranges from setting the right goals, hiring the right people, choosing the appropriate form of contract, creating proper documentation, monitoring progress and payments, and maintaining accountability and responsive communication.

Due to the dearth of information available, most homeowners must rely on their architect or contractor to choose and manage the construction process. If these professionals do not have sufficient expertise to tailor a process for your specific project, problems and disputes may occur. Because of this, we offer project management to both our own design clients and those working with other architects.

Residential project management is more art than science; it can only be learned by experience. The process must be tailored to the particulars of the specific project, client, architect, and contractor. Without buy-in by all parties, communication suffers, and small problems can turn into big ones.

Our experience gives us insight and credibility in this role. Having been clients, builders, and architects ourselves, we understand the perspectives and concerns of all parties. We have created a variety of collaboration structures to suit the specific requirements of each project. Our goal is to create a positive, win-win environment, with open communication and quick resolution of issues.
