HUCKLEBERRY HILL

As with many sites in Metro-West, siting of the house was challenged by wetlands, ledge, and zoning issues.  Despite having seven acres, the long and narrow design was dictated by the available building envelope.

The goal was to take advantage of the Southern and Western views with expansive glazing. A connection to the outdoors was made via a generous wrap-around deck and large, multi-slide doors that provide a clear opening and circular plan for entertaining.  While essentially an open floor plan, three distinct spaces (living, dining, cooking) are creating through bump-outs and changes in material.  The custom suspended light fixture the illuminates both the ceiling and the space below, further delineates the living area.
