As any David Hockney fan knows, pools are as beautiful to look at as they are to swim in. The aim of this design was to wrap the pool around the house, making it a feature from both inside and out. To achieve this, the pool was not built separately, but integrated as part of the house foundation. ​

The living spaces are oriented toward the pool and the sloping view toward a reservoir below. Kitchen, dining area, living room and 4-season porch are tightly grouped in an L-shape around the pool deck to allow easy flow between spaces and provide a sense of shelter and connectedness. ​​
