We designed this 9000' home based on reusing the foundation of the existing house, and adding new wings on the front and rear.  The rear guest wing creates an L-shaped plan to afford privacy from the walking trails of the adjacent conservation land.  A butterfly roof allows for high windows on the street side, with floor to ceiling glass facing the yard.  A rhythmic series of cantilevered and suspended roofs on the south side create visual drama while providing solar shading.

Inside, the butterfly roof defines distinct living and circulation spaces within the open floor plan. The up-sloped ceiling and clerestory embraces the natural beauty of the yard and the woods beyond. Designed for entertaining, almost all rooms open onto the generous terrace, which features an outdoor kitchen, a firepit, and open and covered dining and sitting areas. Custom features like a floating stair, a motorized glass backsplash that reveals hidden storage, and linear recessed LED lighting make this a truly unique and dramatic home.
